The Catholic Children's Aid Society (CCAS) recently assessed their equity initiatives to ensure their polices and practices continue to adequately support an inclusive working environment for all employees. Managers are required to complete training on the importance of diversity and change within the organization, and training on race relations, discrimination and accommodation must be completed by all employees.
The CCAS regularly posts recruitment advertisements in various ethnic newspapers and other diverse community outlets to encourage job applications from members of equity groups. Today, the composition of the Society's workforce reflects the success of its past efforts to create a diverse workplace -- nearly one third of CCAS employees are visible minorities, with visible minorities also constituting nearly one-third of management staff.
