Chosen as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers for 2011:
By Kristina Leung and Richard Yerema, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors  ( Feb 21, 2011)

Some of the reasons why Corus Entertainment Inc. was selected as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers 2011:
  • manages a formal diversity and inclusiveness policy as well as an employment equity and cultural diversity plan
  • forwards job vacancies to organizations that represent disabled and Aboriginal job-seekers, including the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, the Aboriginal Human Resources Development Council, and Completing the Circle, to name a few
  • created an Assistant Radio Program Director training program to help advance women and members of visible minorities into managerial positions within the organization
  • also developed a six-day training program, in partnership with The Banff Centre, to advance the careers of women in management roles within the media industry
  • recently launched an online diversity training module for employees, entitled Diversity ManageMentor
  • is a member of SABAR, the Strategic Alliance of Broadcasters for Aboriginal Reflection, which works to increase the representation of Aboriginals working within the media industry -- the company's initiatives include internship opportunities, scholarships, and attendance at career fairs
"I have had the privilege of working for Corus Entertainment since its inception in 1999. During that time my career has advanced as I assumed a number of senior management roles enabling me to grow both professionally and personally. This was made possible by the learning and skill development Corus has provided including but not limited to our in-house leadership programs. Corus places a high value on leadership and the advancement of Women in management offering programs like our President's Council, Women In Leadership, Mentorship and a variety of other excellent in-house training programs through our Corus University."
Suzanne C., Vice President and General Manager, Corus Radio Toronto
