Chosen as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers for 2012:
By Kristina Leung and Richard Yerema, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors  ( Feb 20, 2012)

Some of the reasons why Deloitte & Touche LLP was selected as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers 2012:

  • the whitepaper spawned the creation of a 4-month mentoring program for persons with disabilities, offered in partnership with the Job Opportunity Information Network (JOIN)
  • is a member of the Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council, which connects Aboriginal and minority owned businesses to corporate supply chains
  • provides support to female employees through the "Canadian Women's Initiative Network" (canWin), which offers mentoring, networking and professional development workshops that include topics such as how to succeed in a a male-dominated environment, a group for "Career Moms" and a leadership program for high potential women
  • the network has seven chapters across the country and is part of Deloitte's larger initiative of the global retention of women
  • recently created an internal award to recognize women in leadership who have helped other female employees recognize and achieve their professional goals
  • also manages "people networks" in support of the firm's diverse workforce, including the Canadian Asian Network, Canadian Black Professionals and a group for LGBT employees
