Hewlett-Packard Canada has a long history of raising awareness about equity issues through numerous projects and employee support groups for disabled employees, Asian employees, women employees and LGBT employees.
HP Pride is just one of many employee resource groups established to provide a personal and professional support framework for LGBT employees at the company. The group also functions as an outreach program for LGBT employees and employees who are parents, friends or relatives of LGBT individuals. HP Pride recently hosted a "Coming Out at Work" educational presentation, and regularly participates in local Pride Month events every year.
Hewlett-Packard also provides "Safe Space" training sessions, where employees and managers can learn about diversity and LGBT issues through a series of presentations, question and answer periods, and open discussion. Attendees talk about LGBT expression and identity issues in the workplace, and how to create an inclusive workplace culture for LGBT colleagues.
