A few years ago, Information Services Corporation of Saskatchewan (ISC) established a diversity and equity working group that includes representatives who are Aboriginal, disabled, and management-level women employees. The employee-led group implements diversity-related projects throughout the company, such as an in-house diversity leadership employee recognition award, and events to celebrate the International Day of the Disabled, National Aboriginal Day, and the International Day for the Elimination of Racism. ISC also measures representative workforce numbers annually, and has exceeded their targets for Aboriginal, visible minority, and management/executive-level women employees for the past two years. It also provides annual progress reports on their representative workforce efforts, as part of a formal equity partnership agreement with the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission.
"Diversity enriches individual experiences...We learn best from those whose experiences and beliefs are different from our own and these lessons can be taught best when working closely with people from diverse backgrounds."
— Michelle Amyotte-Kupusa, Human Resources Consultant, ISC
