Nexen demonstrates its commitment to the continued development of employment opportunities for Aboriginal Canadians, by regularly attending post-secondary recruitment fairs and establishing partnerships with Aboriginal student associations at western Canadian universities.
The company is also a long-time sponsor of the Banff Centre's Aboriginal leadership and management programs, and provides bursaries and scholarships to Aboriginal post-secondary students. Nexen also offers a two-day training session in Aboriginal employment issues, which is designed to educate employees about Aboriginal culture and the particular barriers Aboriginal jobseekers encounter during the hiring process.
