Procter & Gamble Inc.
Chosen as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers for 2009:
By Rachel Caballero and Richard Yerema, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors  (Feb 19, 2009)

Some of the reasons why Procter & Gamble Inc. was selected as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers 2009:
  • created a diversity leadership assessment tool that allows employees to assess how well their managers create diverse and inclusive work environments
  • attends university events to recruit visible minority and LGBT students
  • require all employees to complete a diversity training workshop
  • has several longstanding diversity network groups for employees from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds

 Recruiting Visible Minority Youth

Procter & Gamble provides paid internships to visible minority youth through "Inroads", an organization that helps visible minority high school or college graduates develop their leadership skills. The company also manages a number of internal diversity networks for LGBT, Black and Latino employees. Network members often attend campus recruitment fairs to attract young graduates from these groups.

"The ALC (Asian Learning Conference - an in-house training forum for Asian employees) was a great opportunity to network with my Asian co-workers and learn from their unique experiences. I truly appreciate P&G's efforts in supporting diversity in the workplace."

 Supporting Women's Career Development

The "Women's Leadership Council" at Procter & Gamble provides mentorship opportunities to women employees and hosts a number of events and seminars on inclusion, gender issues and related topics. Originally established by senior-level women employees who wanted to provide information resources and career development support to women across the company, the Council now also acts as an advisory board to management on women's issues.
