At SaskPower, employee affinity groups representing Aboriginal employees, employees with disabilities, women and visible minorities, have an active role in helping to develop the corporation's overall diversity recruitment strategy. Employee members regularly attend career fairs targeting designated groups, provide feedback on mentoring opportunities and advise on how to integrate diversity into training materials.
In 2007, SaskPower's diversity department organized an in-house diversity affinity group conference. Members of all four groups met and discussed how to eliminate barriers to employment, battle stereotypes, and create more career development opportunities for employees at the company.
