  • established a formal employment equity committee and is developing a five-year diversity action plan
  • operates a sub-committee to advise on the recruitment, retention and integration of persons with disabilities -- also commits funds to provide full time aides to quadriplegic employees during the work day
  • manages an Aboriginal recruitment and retention program in an effort to increase Aboriginal workforce representation -- initiatives include attending career fairs, conferences, and seminars organized by Aboriginal Associations and Friendship Centres
  • also maintains an inventory of qualified Aboriginal candidates who are interested in employment within Statistics Canada
