  • engages in quarterly benchmarking, to ensure the company's diversity initiatives are aligned with other industry leaders
  • in 2009, established a diversity and inclusiveness council, comprised of employees from all levels of the company, to oversee the development of a diversity business case and defined strategy
  • participated in focus groups organized by Brock University to determine initiatives that would benefit the company's Aboriginal workforce, such as the development of an Aboriginal employee resource group
  • manages "Connections", a women's employee network group that provides members with opportunities to attend mentoring, networking, and leadership training sessions -- the group also manages a monthly newsletter and website to communicate the latest events to members
  • works with the Prince George Aboriginal Employment and Training Association to connect Aboriginal job seekers to vacancies within Telus
  • established a unique initiative (called Spectrum) in 2009, which provides a forum for LGBT employees to openly network and share their experiences
