Chosen as one of Best Employers for New Canadians for 2013:
By Kristina Leung and Richard Yerema, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors   (Mar 11, 2013)

Some of the reasons why Bell Aliant Inc. was selected as one of Best Employers for New Canadians 2013:
  • partners with Immigrant Settlement and Integration Services (ISIS) to help newcomers expand their knowledge of Canadian hiring practices and provides training on resume writing and interview skills -- also participates in ISIS Nova Scotia's Wage Subsidy Program and has hired new Canadian job-seekers as a result
  • in partnership with ISIS, offers subsidized offsite English/French as a Second Language (ESL/FSL) training -- the 10 to 13 week program helps new Canadians develop comprehensive language skills for speaking, writing and reading
  • in addition to working with ISIS, also partners with the Multicultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area (MAGMA) and Nova Scotia Community College to support new Canadian job-seekers
  • recruiters have participated in workshops organized by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada on how to improve employment opportunities for new Canadians
“I have been with Bell Aliant for almost two years and I cannot imagine working anywhere else. We have a diverse team with a wealth of experience coming from many different nationalities. I can whole-heartedly say that I am a proud employee of Bell Aliant. I am from India, having arrived in Canada in 2007 to study Engineering Technology and upon graduation I joined Bell Aliant. I have worked in many different corporate cultures and this one truly allows you to be yourself and rewards those that earn it."
