  • in partnership with Career Edge, manages the Ontario Public Service (OPS) Internship Program for Internationally Trained Individuals to help provide Canadian work experience for new Canadian professionals -- since its inception, the program has placed over 600 interns in 25 different ministries, Crown agencies, boards and commissions across the province
  • also manages the OPS Internship for Internationally Trained Engineers, which provides 12 to 15 month long work placements to help internationally trained engineers meet Canadian licensing requirements
  • OPS works with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and the Ontario Bridge Training Program to ensure awareness of the program for eligible candidates
  • both programs include a mentoring component to ensure participants also receive informal career guidance and encouragement as well as information on the Canadian workplace
  • forwards job postings to Equitek and a variety of community agencies to connect newcomers to vacancies within the organization
  • provides managers with guidelines on creating barrier-free employment advertisements which include the use of plain language and limited references to credential requirements
