Chosen as one of Best Employers for New Canadians for 2012:
By Kristina Leung and Richard Yerema, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors  ( Mar 13, 2012)

Some of the reasons why TD Bank Group was selected as one of Best Employers for New Canadians 2012:
  • sponsors settlement programs managed by the Calgary Immigrant Aid Society including the Immigrant Professional Career Bridging program and the Professional Women's Mentoring program
  • in partnership with ACCES Employment Services, hosts networking event to connect newcomers to recruiters from the bank -- recruiters offer resume development advice and facilitate mini-interview sessions
  • over 50 senior leaders participated in ACCES' 2-hour speed mentoring program -- 8 mentees were hire as a result
  • in association with Ryerson University, participated in the development of communication skills program for new Canadians and sponsors ACCES' "Talk English Cafe" program to help newcomers develop business language skils
  • participates in Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council's (TRIEC) Mentoring Partnership program, and is launching similar initiatives in offices across Canada
  • also works with a range of community organizations including Equitek, Career Bridge, Microskills, Costi and Skills for Change
"Being a new immigrant in Canada with English as second language and without knowing anyone was a big change in my life as well as a big challenge. My first connection with TD was through the IT Connections Program hosted by ACCES Employment where I had the opportunity to meet Senior TD Executives and heard about TD's opportunities as well as suggestions and tips. I consider this as the beginning of my amazing journey within TD. The commitment and engagement that TD has with organizations such as ACCES speaks well about how TD values and considers its relationships with the community, country and new immigrants."
