Some of the reasons why University of Ottawa was selected as one of Best Employers for New Canadians 2013:
  • in 2008, launched "Access UOttawa" in partnership with Hire Immigrants Ottawa -- the initiative provides new Canadian job-seekers and other equity group applicants with temporary administrative roles until suitable full-time positions become available
  • provides recruitment presentations in association with LASI World Skills, a non-profit organization that supports the integration of new Canadians, in order to raise awareness of the employment opportunities available at the university
  • also works with a variety of community organizations to provide support to new Canadian job-seekers, including the Job Match Network, YMCA/YWCA of the National Capital Region, Immigrant Women Services of Ottawa, Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization and March of the Dimes Ottawa, to name a few
