Eluta and OpenSearch

OpenSearch provides a standardized way to execute Eluta searches and have the results returned in an easily parseable XML (RSS-like) format, which can be transformed and included in your web pages.

Essentially, any Eluta query can be turned into an OpenSearch query by replacing the "search" part of the query URL with "opensearch". For example, to use opensearch to get results for "Chartered Accountant" in "Ottawa" the query would like:

http://www.eluta.ca/opensearch?imo=4&q=Chartered+Accountant&l=Ottawa

Please refer to the OpenSearch documentation for details.

Eluta's OpenSearch description file is here.

Besides the required standard OpenSearch parameters Eluta's OpenSearch interface provides the following extension search parameters:

OpenSearch Parameter

Eluta Attribute

eluta:employer eq words found in the job's employer's name
eluta:location l the location being searched in (eg. "Toronto", "Surrey, BC", "PEI", etc)
eluta:sort sort Order of the results. Currently supported values are: post, rank, and proximity. (Proximity only works if an eluta:location is specified.)
