Privacy Policy

We want you to read and understand our privacy policy. It's part of who we are and runs through everything we do at Mediacorp Canada Inc.

Our philosophy is that job-seekers should never have to surrender their personal information to search for job opportunities. By "personal information", we mean information that allows someone to identify you, such as your name, telephone number or address. There are four cases on Eluta.ca where we collect personal information:

1. Email Alerts. When you sign up for an e-mail notification, we use your e-mail address only to notify you when new jobs matching your search criteria are found. When the notification period expires, we purge your email address from our system. We won't use your email address to send you marketing messages. We'll drive a stake through the heart of anyone who tries to take your email address from us.
   
   
2. Contacting Us. When you contact us, either online or otherwise, we may ask for personal information (such as your name or email address) so that we can respond to your inquiry. We store this information until your request is dealt with, then your personal information is purged from our system. Eluta.ca has no "résumé banks" or candidate registration procedure -- we simply don't think your personal information needs to be stored on our system.
   
   
3. Buying an Ad. When you purchase a Sponsored Job advertisement using our automated order form, we temporarily store information about your selections so that information from one page can be passed to the next page on the order form. Once your order is submitted, this temporary cache is deleted. The contents of advertising orders are stored on our administrative servers in encrypted format to allow our sales staff to assist clients.
   
   
4. Server Logs & Browser Information. When you use Eluta.ca, our servers (and third-party sites that host our servers) may collect automated information about your visit. This includes network information such as your IP address, the time of your visit and the type of browser used. We use this information to ensure that all features of our site work properly and to optimize the performance of our search engine. We don't link any of this information to personal information that job-seekers may provide on inquiry forms submitted to us.
   
   

Eluta.ca does not use cookies, session variables or other means to store information about visitors between visits. We do not disclose your personal information to any other parties in the ordinary course. In some cases, however, we may be legally required to disclose personal information under court order to a government authority or third-party. Advertisers on Eluta may receive aggregate information, such as the number of visitors to our site or clicks on particular job opportunities, which does not contain personal information. If Eluta is acquired by another company, the successor organization shall be bound by this privacy policy in respect of any personal information then in our possession.

Portions of our website use Google Analytics, a widely used web analysis tool provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are small text files placed on your computer, to help website owners analyze how visitors use their site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) is transmitted to, and stored by, Google on servers in the United States of America. Google compiles this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of our website, assembling reports on website activity for us and providing other services relating to website activity and Internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google does not associate your IP address (or other personally identifiable information) with any other data held by Google. You may block the use of cookies by choosing the appropriate settings in your browser preferences; if you do this, however, you may not be able to access all the features of this website. By using Eluta.ca, you consent to the processing of data about your use of our site by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out in this paragraph.

We sometimes use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our website. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that are relevant to your interests. While your personal information is in our possession, we take all measures that are commercially practicable to protect it from theft and unauthorized access. Our servers use secure socket layer (SSL) encryption to guard against unauthorized administrative access. You should be aware, however, that no website can guarantee complete security. Our policy is to store the minimum personal information required for the briefest time possible.
