Starbucks manages several in-house training initiatives such as a development planning for employees who want to change roles, and "Future Leaders", an accelerated program for high-potential store managers who want to advance their careers. In addition, Starbucks created "Virtual Job Tryout", an interactive web program that allows employees to try out a position while collecting data that predicts how that employee will perform in the role.
On the job, employees enjoy a variety of company perks, including discounts on all Starbucks purchases as well as weekly gifts, such as a free pound of coffee, box of tea, or box of espresso pods. Starbucks works to maintain a fun work environment with an in-house "Tea Tasting Corner", casual dress Fridays at the head office, and "Monday Morning Coffee Tastings" at regional offices.
