Syncrude manages several training and development programs for young people, such as an apprenticeship program for high school students, which allows them to gain the required number of on-the-job hours for a first year apprenticeship before they graduate from high school. Syncrude also manages an in-house Power Engineering / Process Operator program for new and existing employees who want to explore a career change, as well as summer work placement opportunities for high school students through their Career Preparation program.
