We currently have a Temporary Full-Time opportunity for an Clinical Research Associate in the Clinical Research Programme, at the Odette Cancer Centre.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Clinical Research Programme at the Odette Cancer Center (OCC) is part of Sunnybrook’s/Sunnybrook Research Institute’s (SRI) ongoing commitment to participate in innovative and high quality clinical research.

Within OCC Clinical Research, the Medical Director, Program Manager, Quality Assurance & Education Lead and Business Analyst, work with 35+ physicians actively participating in clinical research and 38 OCC clinical research disease site-specific staff. Our programme is comprised of 10 disease site groups; Breast, CNS, GI, GU, Gynecology, Head & Neck, Hematology, Lung, Melanoma and Palliative.

The goal of this position is to assist the ­­­GI Disease Site Group with the opening, maintenance and closure of trial, as well as patient-specific responsibilities. Primary responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to, consenting patients, reviewing trial eligibility criteria; ongoing patient protocol requirements; reporting Adverse Events/Serious Adverse Events; scheduling patient appointments; communicating with patients, various hospitals and health service facilities to obtain medical information; data entry and resolving sponsor queries; completing forms and maintaining supportive documentation; and requesting/processing specimens.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Requires the successful minimum completion of a Community College Diploma/Certificate in a health related discipline plus a minimum of 2 years of related practical experience in clinical research, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • SoCRA/CCRP certification, preferred
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of ICH guidelines and Good Clinical Practice an asset
  • Proven experience in processing and shipping blood samples
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated accurate and efficient work habits with close attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software packages such as MSOffice
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
