Sunnybrook Research Institute currently have a Temporary Full-Time opportunity for an Clinical Research Associate in the Clinical Research Program at our Odette Cancer Centre.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Clinical Research Programme at the Odette Cancer Center (OCC) is part of Sunnybrook’s/Sunnybrook Research Institute’s (SRI) ongoing commitment to participate in innovative and high quality clinical research. Within OCC Clinical Research, the Medical Director, Program Manager, Quality Assurance & Education Lead and Business Analyst, work with 35+ physicians actively participating in clinical research and 38 OCC clinical research disease site-specific staff. Our programme is comprised of 10 disease site groups; Breast, CNS, GI, GU, Gynecology, Head & Neck, Hematology, Lung, Melanoma and Palliative.

The goal of this position is to participate in a pan-Canadian initiative to build a comprehensive oncology database for future scientific review and, in turn, match patients to active clinical trials. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, database maintenance; specimen collection/processing; consenting patients, reviewing trial eligibility criteria; ongoing patient protocol requirements; reporting Adverse Events/Serious Adverse Events; scheduling patient appointments; communicating with patients, various hospitals and health service facilities to obtain medical information; data entry and resolving sponsor queries; completing forms and maintaining supportive documentation; ongoing ethics submissions; maintenance of regulatory requirements; reviewing and revising consent forms; coordinating site inspections required by trial sponsors and regulatory bodies.


  • Requires the successful minimum completion of a Community College Diploma/Certificate in a health related discipline plus a minimum of 2 years of related practical experience in clinical research, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • SoCRA/CCRP certification, preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of ICH guidelines and Good Clinical Practice an asset
  • Understanding and/or experience managing databases and registries an asset
  • Project management skills an asset
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work highly independently across multiple protocols and disease sites
  • Ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software packages such as MSOffice
