The school creates a seamless program for students to acquire the academic, technical, and workplace skills and knowledge that employers need.Function & OverviewReporting to the Principal - SNPSS, the Supply Teacher accepts assignments within the school that could last one day to several days. The Supply Teacher is essential to ensure learning continues in the classrooms when staff are absent. The Supply Teacher is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodin!!!!!sh!!!!!:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).DutiesThe duties of the Supply Teacher include, without limitation:Planning, Organizing & Developing InstructionUtilizing differentiated teaching methods, instructional materials and assessment to meet students' varying needs and interests;Implementing Assessment & Classroom ManagementAssisting in the evaluation and assessment of student needs;Assisting in the implementation of a prescribed program in both individual and group settings;Cooperating with the Principal and SNPSS staff to establish and maintain consistent disciplinary practices in the school, with respect to our school code of conduct and restorative justice procedures;Supervisory & Safety DutiesCarrying out the supervisory duties assigned to the Teacher by the Principal, including in class, extracurricular, break or lunchtime supervisions and out of class excursions;Being present in the classroom or teaching area and ensuring that the classroom or teaching area is ready for the reception of pupils at least fifteen minutes before the commencement of classes in the school in the morning and, where applicable, five minutes before the commencement of classes in the school in the afternoon;Ensuring that all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the Teacher is responsible, including but not limited to all fire safety procedures, lockdown procedures, shop and machinery safety procedures, kitchen safety protocols, and all other content specific safety procedures;Community ConnectionsUsing technology, hands-on activities and Hodin!!!!!sh!!!!!:nih history, culture, values, contemporary issues, community priorities, and resources to enrich curriculum and instruction;General AdministrationMaintaining accurate and complete student attendance records as required by the Ministry of Education and SNPSS administrative guidelines; andOther related duties, as required.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s Degree or Bachelor of Education degree;OCT (Ontario Teaching Certification) in good standing; andHave experience using D2L and Microsoft TEAMS.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of current research and instructional best practices;Strong leadership skills;A general and current knowledge of Hodin!!!!!sh!!!!!:nih history, culture, values, contemporary issues, community priorities, and stakeholders;Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on written expression (i.e., faultless spelling and grammar, and professional style);Sound interpersonal skills including communication, organization, negotiation, and professional judgement;Ability to work under pressure and manage schedules, portfolios, and timelines, to meet demanding deadlines;Capacity to work both independently and in a team setting, demonstrating Hodin!!!!!sh!!!!!:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind); andDemonstrated familiarity with standard desktop computing programs, including spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications, on the Windows 2010 (or later) operating system.Criminal Record CheckThe Supply Teacher will be required to provide an original Criminal Background check – vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) prior to the first day of work at SNPSS and every three (3) years thereafter, and an Offence Declaration that is satisfactory to SNP by August 31 every year in between which they are employed by Six Nations Polytechnic.At Six Nations Polytechnic, we are committed to diversity and inclusion as we continue and expand our efforts to become a more inclusive,safeand respectful workplace.
